Data Rescue

The GSC maintains a national permafrost database that contains both permafrost temperature and thickness data. These provide baseline data relevant to climate change studies and provide data for input and validation of climate change and permafrost models. These databases also support the needs of national and international climate change assessments and programs such as GCOS and IPCC. Components of these databases are available online.

Other permafrost databases are also being compiled and upgraded into accessible digital formats in order to ensure that this valuable information is not lost.
